What is the difference between white, gold and dark rum?

Mostly aging and filtration. White rum is young or filtered clear for mixing; gold rum picks up oak color and softness; dark rums carry longer aging or rich molasses character.

Is rum aged like whiskey?

Yes, usually in ex-bourbon barrels - and tropical climates age rum faster, so a 10 year rum can drink like a much older whiskey.

What is spiced rum?
